CometLab festively opened at NL Space Campus

On October 7, our partner NL Space Campus proudly celebrated the grand opening of CometLab; the brand new Collaboration Hub at the heart of the Space Campus. A place where companies, researchers and students come together to innovate, experiment and shape the future of space exploration. This unique facility is a boost for space innovation and represents an important milestone in the development of the Dutch and European space sector.

Groundbreaking technology

CometLab is designed as a launch pad for collaboration between companies, researchers and students. With support from the European Space Agency (ESA) and partners, it provides cutting-edge tools and facilities to accelerate pioneering projects in the Dutch and European space sector. Think sensors, satellite components and smart software.

The Netherlands is a key player in global space. Thanks to innovative companies and a powerful ecosystem, the Netherlands makes a vital contribution to the growth of European space innovation.

Talent Development

In addition to technological innovation, talent development plays a central role. Pupils and students are educated through workshops and training, and competitions are organized to introduce young talent to space exploration. New collaborations between companies, universities and international partners are also emerging.

In full use

ESA Phi-Lab Netherlands and Wfront Principle are among the first users of the new building. From October 17 to 19, it will host the Dutch edition of the EUDIS Defense Hackathon. Teams will then work on solutions for space object protection, applications of space for defense and sovereign aerospace. The hackathon connects students, startups, researchers and companies and encourages dual-use innovations that can be deployed both civilian and military.
