Crossovers

Kick-off phase
Medical drone

Cross-overs between sectors and knowledge clusters benefit from proximity to talent and innovation. Both are available in Key Region Leiden. In the knowledge clusters, people work daily on practical applications in practice. Developments and inventions in one cluster can be of great value to another cluster. You have to know and meet each other. Give each other something too. To this end, we organize meetings where the network gets to know each other across the boundaries of their own fields. In this way we strengthen the network, stimulate knowledge sharing and innovation, and beautiful new collaborations arise. Dual-use, where inventions and applications are used in a broader social context, are also given more opportunity this way.

Did you know that lightweight materials developed in space also have great applications in the life science sector? Think customized implants or printing lightweight but rock-solid prosthetics. And who is not familiar with the ambulance heat blanket? An invention from space travel.

Insights around data analytics, quantum computing and the use of clean rooms also offer many opportunities for crossovers.

The photo shows a medical drone in action. It can be used for fast and safe transport of medicines or organs. Tested at Unmanned Valley in Katwijk.

  • Did you know that lightweight materials developed in space also have great applications in the life science sector? Think customized implants or printing lightweight but rock-solid prosthetics. And who is not familiar with the ambulance heat blanket? An invention from space travel.
  • Insights around data analytics, quantum computing and the use of clean rooms also offer many opportunities for crossovers.
  • The large photo shows a medical drone in action. It can be used for fast and safe transport of medicines or organs. Tested at Unmanned Valley in Katwijk.
  • The small photo shows a drone used to inspect crops. This allows diseases to be detected quickly and dealt with with precision.
  • Drones are also used for inspecting buildings and bridges or checking solar panels at high altitudes. These applications increase knowledge and experience in software, materials knowledge, data processing and safety. And that is valuable for the knowledge cluster, the economy and society!
