Key Region Leiden is not a collection of ideas, but a unique working ecosystem with the highest knowledge density in the Netherlands in eight key technologies.
With three knowledge clusters, we work every day on today’s challenges and tomorrow’s solutions. Science for life.
- The Leiden Bio Science Park is working on innovations at the intersection of vaccines, regenerative medicine, data and AI, medical technology and lifestyle prevention.
- Through NL Space Campus, satellite data are being used for applications such as Earth observation, climate monitoring and communications.
- At Unmanned Valley,autonomous tech is being developed for medical logistics, sustainable agriculture and security of (critical) infrastructure, among other things.
- AI and data science are applied in medical imaging, drone navigation and quantum computing.
- Test sites and incubators for startups and scale-ups allow for immediate validation and scale-up of technology.

INNOVATIVE PROJECTS
Within the innovation region theme, we are strengthening our unique network by connecting the knowledge clusters. This creates new crossovers and innovations find their way to the market faster. We bring this to the attention of relevant consultation tables in our region, in South Holland, the Netherlands and Europe.
