Herman Romeijn alderman of the municipality of Leiderdorp.
“As Key Region Leiden, we pull together and work together to build a strong regional economy. Each municipality has strength, but together you are more powerful. You can see that in the business park strategy: on the scale of the region, we provide clarity. Companies know where they can locate now and in the future. Sufficient space for a good healthcare cluster is important here. Leiderdorp contributes to this to a large extent and thus contributes to a strong regional profile, which increases our value.
For Leiderdorp, the many self-employed, the small manufacturing industry and cybersecurity are topical themes that Key Region Leiden is picking up. Projects like the Internship Pact and Talent op Maat are important for our economy: they ensure that our companies can find good staff.
For the future, we will have to work to build a good bridge to SMEs, especially the small self-employed. In Leiderdorp we have experience with sounding board groups, in which we also hear their voices. If we continue to work together like this, I think we can establish a future-proof and strong regional economy.”
