Frans Mohring is chairman of the Executive Board of mboRijnland.
“As a college institution, we train people for an inclusive and sustainable society. We therefore want to bring our students in touch with the rapid changes in the labor market, such as innovations. We also want to bring them in touch with the major social issues, such as energy transition and circular economy. We already focused on these as mboRijnland, but by working together within the economic agenda we underline the urgency with partners in the region.
Important for the future is lifelong development, so that people’s knowledge and skills remain in line with changing technologies and labor market needs. We want to offer companies modules for employees of companies. In this way, we not only require space for trainees, but also offer employees of companies opportunities to keep up and develop. This is how we achieve a Learning Regional Network.
It is also important that education, entrepreneurs and government work well together so that they remain well connected. A good example of such a connection is our centers for innovative craftsmanship. We work with companies and institutions on a large number of projects.
Because we know each other well within Key Region Leiden, we know how to find each other quickly and know what to do with each other. From time to time we also manage to make a nice hit. Think of the Stagepact and the Stagebeurs, which we set up together.”
